God, some people are stupid.
Ok ok, here is my gripe about how mentally unstable some people in my life are.
When a person somehow manages within a single conversation to question the mental stability of your sibling, the death of your grandmother, the hospitalization of your father, and the integrity of your mother, that person is no longer a friend. That person is an enemy.
When that same person considers herself a victim after such an incident occurs, that person is not only an enemy, that person is dillusional.
The most important notion that I’ve learned thus far and built up as a central dogma is the fact that the only thing that unconditionally gets you through the day is family. Friends, mentors and lovers are what makes life go from good to great, but at the core of it all, a persons happiness, is surrounded by the love they have from their immediate circle. If you don’t have that, then you’re truly alone. So what’s a better reason to completely cut someone out of my life, if not for the sheer fact that they purposefully and ruthlessly attacked my core unit, the people who make me who I am.
And why did she do it? Because she was having a realization that her life is falling apart at the seems, and she took low blow after low blow because, and I quote “I wanted to make you feel terrible about your life”. Sounds like the type of person to have around, doesn’t it?
My thesis which I’m hoping to get across is this: friends will come and go and you will have plenty relationships that will make you feel wildly alive. But if you aren’t fighting on the front line for the people who unconditionally love you, then you aren’t just ruining the only true thing you have going for you, but you are also ruining the central story of who you are, which is the ultimate disappointment that a person can have in their life.
Post Script: Do you think it’s unfair to post your feelings about a very serious situation if you keep the second parties identity anonymous? I think of Tumblr as a place to transpose your (non)particular thoughts in a free, open environment. If I’m off-base with such a notion, please tell me.
